BRS condemns Purana Pul incident, targets Congress

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) senior leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Thursday strongly condemned the incident reported from Purana Pul and expressed deep concern over the increasing frequency of communal disturbances in Telangana.

He said the Purana Pul incident had once again highlighted the failure of the Congress government to maintain law and order and safeguard communal harmony across the state. According to Abdullah Sohail, Telangana has been witnessing repeated communal incidents ever since the Congress assumed power in December 2023, with disturbances being reported almost every week.

Purana Pul incident raises concerns over governance failure

The BRS leader stated that such recurring incidents were creating fear among citizens and damaging Telangana’s reputation as a peaceful and progressive region. He questioned the Congress government’s claims of effective governance and said its inability to prevent repeated communal tensions reflected administrative weakness and a lack of seriousness.

Abdullah Sohail recalled that during the previous BRS government, Telangana had largely remained peaceful. He said firm policing and proactive measures had ensured that sensitive areas did not descend into unrest. In contrast, he alleged that the present government’s lax approach and failure to act decisively against troublemakers had emboldened anti-social elements.

He demanded that the Congress government take full responsibility for the deteriorating situation and immediately strengthen preventive policing in sensitive localities. He also urged authorities to act impartially and initiate strict action against those responsible instead of responding only after incidents occur.

Appealing to the people of Hyderabad and Telangana, Abdullah Sohail called for calm and unity, urging citizens not to allow political or communal forces to disturb the social fabric of the state.
