Hyderabad: The Telangana Food Safety Department held FSSAI registration camps in 14 major vegetable markets across the city on Tuesday. The initiative aimed to strengthen food safety standards and promote hygienic practices among vendors.
The department organised the camps on the directions of the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana. Officials issued registrations and licences on the spot under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India framework. They also educated vendors on hygiene, sanitation, and food safety norms within market premises.
The drive covered Kushaiguda, Uppal Vegetable and Fruit Market, Saroornagar Rythu Bazar, NTR Nagar Vegetable Market, Vanasthalipuram Rythu Bazar, Madannapet Vegetable Market, Mir Alam Mandi, Owaisi Vegetable Market, Monda Market, Mettuguda Vegetable Market, Erragadda Vegetable Market, Gudimalkapur Vegetable Market, Lingampally Market and JNTU Rythu Bazar.
Officials said the initiative helped small vendors comply with regulations more easily. They added that the camps would improve safe food handling for consumers across the city.
FSSAI registration camps receive 926 applications
The department received 926 applications from vegetable vendors during the one-day drive. Officials said they would process the applications as per norms and issue certificates to eligible vendors soon.
The department announced another round of registration camps on December 30, 2025, at the same locations. Officials urged vendors who missed the earlier drive to apply in the next round.
