BC Welfare Association demands continuation of fee reimbursement scheme

Hyderabad: Leaders of the National BC Welfare Association demanded that the government continue the fee reimbursement scheme without changes and immediately release pending reimbursement dues. The demand was raised during a statewide college boycott programme organised under the leadership of the association’s national vice-president, Gujja Satyam.

The protest was held following a call given by National BC Welfare Association president R. Krishnaiah. According to the organisers, students participated in large numbers in the boycott programme across the state.

After the boycott, the association organised a road blockade at Kothapet crossroads and urged the government to respond to their demands. Moreover, the protesters called for the immediate release of Rs 8,000 crore in pending fee reimbursement dues.

Fee reimbursement scheme central to students’ demands

The association also opposed any policy that would impose an additional financial burden on students. Furthermore, Gujja Satyam said the fee reimbursement scheme was a right of students and should not be weakened.

He thanked students, association leaders and public organisations for participating in the protest. The association reiterated that it would continue its efforts until the government addressed the issues raised by the student community.
