Hyderabad: Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna has strongly criticised the Centre’s proposed delimitation exercise, alleging it is part of a BJP Delimitation Conspiracy to politically marginalise South India.
While addressing the media outside Parliament, he stated that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is attempting to restructure parliamentary representation to its advantage by increasing seats in northern states.
BJP Delimitation Conspiracy questioned over imbalance in representation and funding
Vamsi Krishna pointed out that South India contributes significantly to the nation’s finances but does not receive proportional representation in Parliament. He described this disparity as unfair and unacceptable.
Additionally, he questioned why funds from the South continue to be utilised if the region’s electoral voice is being diminished. According to him, such actions reflect a disregard for the contributions of southern states.
He warned that Telangana would not accept any move that undermines its rights. Recalling the historic struggle for statehood, he stated that people are prepared to protest again if necessary.
Furthermore, he labelled the delimitation proposal as a “Jhumla,” asserting that it is politically motivated. He stressed that the principles laid down by B. R. Ambedkar guarantee equal representation, which must be upheld.
Concluding his remarks, he demanded clarity from the Centre, questioning the logic of using southern resources while sidelining its voters.
