Congress boosts Old City push with IS Sadan office

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad District Congress Committee on Thursday inaugurated the IS Sadan Division office to strengthen its organisational base ahead of the GHMC elections.

Hyderabad DCC President Syed Khalid Saifullah inaugurated the office in the presence of Yakutpura Assembly constituency in-charge K Ravi Raj and senior leaders Bheem Arjun Reddy, Kotla Srinivas and Krishna Kumar. Party workers from nearby localities attended the event.

Saifullah said the new office marked the first step in a broader effort to expand the Congress’s reach in areas that had lacked organisational focus for years.

IS Sadan Division office to drive ward-level plans

Saifullah said the IS Sadan Division office would function as a coordination hub for grassroots restructuring in the Old City. He announced plans to open similar offices in all 44 wards under the Hyderabad DCC.

He said the party would soon hold a detailed strategy meeting to finalise ward-level plans for the GHMC elections. Saifullah also highlighted the strong response to the Congress’s online application process for party posts, which attracted thousands of applications before the January 4 deadline.

The DCC president said the response reflected growing public confidence in the Congress government. He added that welfare schemes in the Old City had begun delivering visible results.

More than 70 per cent of residents now benefit from initiatives such as free bus travel for women, free fine rice and new ration cards, he said. Saifullah also pointed to progress on the long-pending Old City Metro Rail project, noting that development work had finally started.

He said the party aimed to rebuild public trust while ensuring long-term development in neglected neighbourhoods, beyond immediate electoral goals.
