Hyderabad: The Hon’ble High Court granted anticipatory bail to 20 accused persons in the Bowenpally clash case registered after an incident in Secunderabad on April 2, 2026.
Police had booked 27 persons under serious charges including attempt to murder, rioting and unlawful assembly after registering an FIR in connection with the clash.
Twenty of the accused later approached Advocates Barkat Ali Khan and Mohammed Azhar seeking legal assistance. Anticipatory bail petitions were subsequently filed before the Hon’ble High Court on April 15, 2026.
Bowenpally clash case accused receive anticipatory bail relief
The matter was heard on April 17 and April 20. During the hearings, detailed arguments were presented on behalf of the accused persons.
After considering submissions from both sides, the Hon’ble High Court granted anticipatory bail to all 20 accused. The Court initially directed each accused to furnish two sureties of Rs. 15,000 each under a total surety condition of Rs. 30,000.
Later, Advocate Barkat Ali Khan filed relaxation petitions stating that the accused belonged to economically weaker sections and lived below the poverty line. He requested the Court to reduce the financial burden on the families.
The Hon’ble High Court then reduced the surety amount from Rs. 15,000 each to Rs. 5,000 each. Following the order, all 20 accused secured anticipatory bail in the matter.
The families of the accused thanked Advocates Barkat Ali Khan and Mohammed Azhar for representing them and handling the matter on a pro bono basis.
