Ranga Reddy Collector urges banks to boost welfare scheme lending

Hyderabad: Ranga Reddy District Collector C. Narayana Reddy directed banks to play a more proactive role in welfare scheme lending and extend greater financial support to farmers, entrepreneurs, self-employment units and students during a District Consultative Committee (DCC) meeting held on Tuesday.

The meeting reviewed banking operations in the district and assessed the implementation of various government-sponsored schemes. Lead District Manager Sushil Kumar K.P. coordinated the meeting, which was attended by representatives of commercial banks, district officials and officers from the Reserve Bank of India and NABARD.

During the review, the Collector examined the progress of agricultural loans, MSME financing and educational loans. He urged banks to enhance credit support for farmers, self-employment ventures and young entrepreneurs to accelerate economic growth in the district.

The Collector also instructed banks to focus on providing adequate credit to small business units, speeding up credit growth in the MSME sector and promoting affordable housing loans. He further stressed the need for timely sanction of educational loans to eligible students from economically weaker sections.

Welfare scheme lending targets unveiled for 2026-27

Speaking on the occasion, Lead District Manager Sushil Kumar K.P. asked banks to increase credit flow under government-sponsored programmes and ensure prompt disposal of pending loan applications.

The Collector said close coordination between banks and government departments was essential to achieve economic development and financial inclusion in the district. He also reviewed measures to simplify loan sanction procedures, remove bottlenecks in credit distribution and ensure quicker financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries.

During the meeting, officials unveiled the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) for the financial year 2026-27. The plan set a credit target of Rs 32,175 crore for the priority sector and Rs 56,144 crore for the non-priority sector.

Calling on banks to function as partners in development, Narayana Reddy said financial institutions should work towards achieving the credit targets and contribute to employment generation, industrial growth, agricultural progress and inclusive economic development in Ranga Reddy district.
