Justice Raghunandan Rao farewell speech praised by Sravan Dasoju

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dr. Sravan Dasoju praised the Justice Rao Raghunandan Rao farewell speech, saying it reaffirmed that the judiciary exists to protect ordinary citizens rather than serve governments. He described the retiring judge’s remarks as a reminder of the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

Dasoju said Justice Raghunandan Rao’s observations during his retirement ceremony should guide the judiciary at a time when constitutional principles require stronger protection. Moreover, he said the speech reflected an unwavering commitment to the rule of law and the rights of common people.

Recalling the judge’s career, Dasoju said his journey from Hyderabad Public School to Osmania University reflected a lifelong pursuit of legal knowledge rather than positions. He added that the judge spent more than three decades as an advocate before earning recognition as a Senior Counsel through reasoned arguments and dedication to the profession.

The BRS leader also highlighted that Justice Raghunandan Rao delivered more than 25,000 judgments during his judicial career. According to Dasoju, those rulings reflected integrity, honesty, and a strong sense of constitutional duty.

Dasoju said one message from the farewell speech particularly resonated with him. Justice Raghunandan Rao stated, “The powers vested in us are not meant to aid the powerful or government top brass… they are meant to protect justice so that the rights of the common man do not vanish under the shadow of systems.”

Furthermore, Dasoju said the statement captured the true spirit of the Constitution. He added that Justice Raghunandan Rao had demonstrated throughout his career that justice was a public responsibility rooted in conscience rather than merely a profession.

Dasoju also wished the retired judge good health, happiness, and a long life. In addition, he expressed hope that Justice Raghunandan Rao would continue to uphold constitutional values and remain a strong voice for the rights of poor and ordinary citizens after retirement.
