Illegal Infant Transfer Revealed During Official Enquiry

According to the complaint, the Child Welfare Department conducted an enquiry after receiving credible information about the alleged illegal transfer of a newborn infant.

The enquiry found that Madhusudhan and Meena, who had remained childless for about 18 years, were searching for a child to adopt. They allegedly approached Potharaju Suresh of Pukat Nagar, Jiyaguda, Hyderabad, seeking assistance. Suresh subsequently contacted Padma Paltiya, and both allegedly acted as mediators in arranging the transfer of a newborn male infant.

The infant was born on May 28, 2026, at Lakshmi Hospital in Tukkuguda to Mohan and Sandhya. The enquiry further revealed that the infant was born with a physical disability and was allegedly handed over to Padma, who is a relative of the child’s father.

Authorities stated that the child was later handed over to Madhusudhan and Meena through mediator Suresh at JP Dargah in Kothur Mandal, Ranga Reddy District. As per the enquiry findings, an amount of Rs. 1,70,000 was allegedly paid to Padma in the presence of Suresh. The complaint states that the transfer took place without following legal adoption procedures.

The infant, aged about 12 days, was produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Hyderabad. Following CWC directions, the child was admitted to Shishu Vihar near Madhura Nagar Metro Station, Ameerpet, for care and protection.

Police said the place of occurrence falls within the jurisdiction of Nandigama Police Station in Ranga Reddy District. Accordingly, the case records have been transferred for re-registration and further investigation.
