Task Force busts duplicate Karachi Mehendi unit, seizes goods worth Rs 8 lakh

Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force South-East Zone busted a unit manufacturing duplicate Karachi Mehendi cones. The team arrested two persons and seized machinery and fake products worth about ₹8 lakh.

Acting on a tip-off, Task Force officers joined Balapur Police and Afzalgunj Police for simultaneous raids on January 13, 2026. They raided a premises in Minar Colony, Balapur, and SKS Travels & Cargo in Afzalgunj. Police said the accused supplied fake Karachi Mehendi cones to shops in the city and outside.

Police identified the arrested men as Md Asif (48), a carpenter from Minar Colony, Balapur, and Deepak Kumar (25), a businessman from Gowliguda Chaman. According to investigators, Asif ran the illegal manufacturing unit. Meanwhile, Deepak Kumar acted as the wholesaler and supplier.

Initially, Asif produced mehendi cones without any brand name. However, low demand forced him to change tactics. Therefore, he began manufacturing duplicate Karachi Mehendi to cash in on the brand’s popularity.

Later, Asif supplied the fake products to Deepak Kumar. Kumar then distributed them to shops across the twin cities and other areas. He passed them off as original products and cheated customers for illegal profit.

Duplicate Karachi Mehendi seized during coordinated raid

During the raid, police seized 8,400 duplicate Karachi Mehendi cones. They also recovered a mehendi filling machine, a mixer, two heating stoves, and a weighing machine. In addition, teams seized packing material, 200 printed Karachi-labelled boxes, 500 empty cones, and two mobile phones.

Officials also recovered 10 drums of mixed material containing 20 litres each. They seized 100 kg of mehendi dry powder, five kg of radiant oxalic acid, and two kg of colouring material. Altogether, the seized property is worth about ₹8 lakh.

Inspector S. Saidababu of the South-East Zone Task Force supervised the operation. Sub-Inspectors K. Swamy and M. Madhu, along with Task Force staff and Balapur and Afzalgunj police teams, took part in the raids. Police have initiated further legal action.
