Cold wave warning issued for Telangana districts

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a cold wave warning for several districts of Telangana. Temperatures may fall 3°C to 4°C below normal at isolated locations over the next two days.

Meanwhile, the IMD said dry weather will prevail across the state from the night of December 21 to the morning of December 23. However, the absence of rainfall does not reduce the severity of cold conditions. Therefore, the department warned residents to remain cautious, especially at night and during early morning hours.

According to a bulletin released at 8.30 pm on December 21, cold wave conditions are likely at isolated places. These include Adilabad, Komuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial and Nirmal. Additionally, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy may also be affected.

Cold wave warning as temperatures dip sharply

The IMD forecast shows minimum temperatures falling to 5°C–10°C in several northern districts by December 25. In contrast, Hyderabad and nearby central districts may record higher minimums of 11°C–15°C.

Cold wave conditions are expected to persist on December 22. However, the IMD has not issued specific warnings from December 23 onwards. Even so, dry weather is likely to continue across Telangana until at least December 28.

Accordingly, the IMD advised farmers and the general public to take precautions against low temperatures. It also urged extra care in districts prone to cold wave conditions.
