Hyderabad: As the Jubilee Hills by-election campaign intensifies, senior Congress leader Shabbir Ali rallied minority voters at Yousufguda, launching a fierce attack on K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for what he called betrayal and hypocrisy.
He said KTR’s recent remarks about his Cabinet exclusion were insincere. “KTR’s family ended my political career in Kamareddy and now pretends to sympathize,” he said.
Shabbir Ali highlights BRS betrayal and fake sympathy
Recalling his past rivalry with former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), Shabbir Ali said the BRS chief contested from Kamareddy only to defeat him. “I fought for 4 per cent Muslim reservation. KCR’s aim was to silence me,” he declared.
He added that KCR’s entry into Kamareddy forced the Congress high command to shift him to Nizamabad Urban while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy took Kamareddy. “This exposed KCR’s fear of Congress,” he noted.
He also alleged that KCR had earlier plotted to remove him as Leader of Opposition. “After all this, KTR’s sympathy looks fake,” he said.
Shabbir Ali accused BRS of siding with the BJP in Parliament on 14 bills. “Those who helped BJP in Delhi cannot claim to be secular in Telangana,” he said.
He reminded the gathering that KCR promised to enhance Muslim reservation but failed to act even after ten years in power. “Under KCR, most minority colleges were shut down,” he said.
He credited Congress for the 4 per cent reservation policy that benefited 22 lakh Muslims and created thousands of professionals. “Congress built institutions; KCR destroyed them,” he said.
The meeting saw participation from TPCC leaders and ministers who endorsed Shabbir Ali’s call to support Congress in the coming elections.
