Hyderabad: Ayyappa Society in Hyderabad is now under vigilance scanner. The investigation follows allegations of illegal electricity connections and large-scale bribery.
Officials said meters were sanctioned without GHMC occupancy certificates. Residents alleged that bribes were collected from builders and homeowners.
Ayyappa Society vigilance case points to collusion of power and GHMC officials
Investigators said power staff demanded lakhs for each meter. Rates were reportedly fixed per transformer and apartment floor. Complaints suggest money flowed from linemen to senior engineers.
GHMC town planning officers also face charges of ignoring unauthorised floors. Vigilance officials said evidence will be reviewed before action is taken.
A similar probe may be extended to GHMC soon, sources indicated.
