Hyderabad: In Kukatpally, forest officials fined Gulf Oil Corporation Limited ₹20 lakh for unauthorised tree cutting. Locals first reported the matter. Teams then inspected the site and confirmed the violation.
The fine was collected through a challan on September 8. A case was also filed against the company.

District Forest Officer Sudhakar Reddy said tree cutting without permits will not be tolerated. He stressed that companies must follow environmental rules.
On August 12, Siddipet municipal officials fined ₹1 lakh for cutting five trees without approval in a housing board colony. Environmentalists said penalties help safeguard urban greenery.
