Hyderabad: The Israel airport attack on Sunday highlighted the growing drone threat posed by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. A drone hit Ramon Airport’s passenger terminal, injuring five, including an elderly traveler.
The IDF said no warning sirens were activated before the strike. Earlier in the day, Israeli forces had intercepted three drones from Yemen, underscoring the persistence of the threat.
Israel airport attack adds to security concerns
Operations at Ramon Airport were suspended as airspace was closed. Technical and security checks were conducted before flights resumed under air force supervision.
The Airport Authority assured that all inspections followed international aviation protocols and declared the airport safe. Analysts note the attack signals an escalation in the Houthis’ operational reach and adds pressure on Israel’s defense systems.
