Mahabubabad Gurukul students protest over drinking water shortage

Hyderabad: Students of the Telangana Social Welfare Girls’ Gurukul School at Gandhinagar in Kothaguda mandal of Mahabubabad district staged a protest on Thursday, demanding immediate steps to resolve a month-long water shortage at the campus.

The students came onto the road and held a dharna, saying the lack of water had disrupted their daily routine. They alleged that they struggled to use washrooms every morning because the school had no regular water supply.

The students also claimed they could not clean the bathrooms due to the shortage. They further alleged that when they raised the issue with the school management, the principal asked each student to contribute Rs 10 to repair the water meter. They also alleged that some teachers harassed students for voicing their concerns.
