Hyderabad: DEEP Trust has launched its flagship “Happy Wheels” initiative by donating an 18-seater TATA Winger vehicle to Sri Vidhyas Centre for Special Children in Mahendra Hills, Hyderabad.
The vehicle was sponsored by Octave India as part of its CSR initiative and aims to provide safe transportation for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities attending the centre.
Sri Vidhyas Centre for Special Children has been serving children with special needs for 27 years. The organisation currently supports 150 children and provides holistic education focused on improving independence and competence.
The vehicle handover ceremony was attended by Mr Ballav Mundra, CFO of Octave India, Dr Madhu Vasepalli, Founder and Trustee of DEEP Trust, Ms Swati Mohanty, CEO of DEEP Trust, along with parents and students. Mrs Shanthi Venkat, Founder of Sri Vidhyas, received the vehicle on behalf of the institution.
Happy Wheels Initiative Expands Access and Inclusion
According to DEEP Trust, transportation has remained a major challenge for many children associated with the centre. As a result, several students faced difficulties in attending school regularly due to the absence of reliable transport facilities.
The newly introduced TATA Winger will provide safe daily travel between home and school. In addition, it is expected to improve attendance, support continuity in education and therapy, and encourage participation in extracurricular activities.
Mr Ballav Mundra said Octave India was pleased to support the initiative and emphasised that access plays a key role in inclusion.
Dr Madhu Vasepalli stated that addressing transportation barriers creates opportunities for confidence and independence among children with special needs.
Ms Swati Mohanty described “Happy Wheels” as an effort to build an inclusive ecosystem that supports and empowers every child.
DEEP Trust also appealed to corporates, philanthropists and individuals to support similar initiatives by contributing toward transportation access, accessibility and educational support for children with special needs.
