Jagityal tiger movement triggers forest alert

Hyderabad: Jagityal tiger movement prompted forest officials to issue a public alert after big cat footprints were traced in Kodimyal and Bheemaram mandals, causing panic in nearby villages.

Forest department officials said they received information about the tiger’s presence on Wednesday (February 25). Acting on local inputs, they inspected forest areas near Garatavagu close to Dammayyapet in Kodimyal mandal. During the field visit, officials identified fresh pugmarks, confirming the Jagityal tiger movement.

As a precaution, authorities warned residents of Dammayyapet and nearby villages including Surampet, Tirumalapur and Sandralapalli to remain vigilant. They advised farmers to exercise caution while visiting agricultural fields and wells. Moreover, they urged villagers to avoid venturing alone into forest fringes.

Meanwhile, reports of the tiger movement also emerged from Motkur Raopet village in Bheemaram mandal over the past two days. Farmers claimed they spotted the animal while heading to their fields, which triggered fear in the area.

Subsequently, villagers alerted the forest department. Officials rushed to the spot and began ground-level monitoring to track the tiger’s movement. They said teams were closely observing the situation to prevent any untoward incident.

The continued tiger movement has left residents anxious, while authorities maintained that surveillance would continue until the animal moves away from human habitation.
