Hyderabad: Tension prevailed in Dasaram Basti of Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar following a land dispute after a builder allegedly attempted to take up construction on a four-acre parcel of land, triggering strong resistance from local residents.
According to locals, the builder’s move would block access roads to the basti, prompting residents to object and confront those involved in the construction attempt. The situation escalated when individuals allegedly brought in to support the builder entered the area, leading to heated arguments.
Residents alleged that stones were pelted at basti dwellers during the confrontation, creating panic and severe tension in the locality. Locals said several families had been living in the area for over 35 years and depended on daily wage labour for their livelihood.
“We have been living here for decades and survive on daily labour. We have nowhere else to go,” residents said, asserting their right to remain in the locality and opposing any move that threatened their access and housing.
