Hyderabad: A road accident in Bhainsa killed four people and critically injured a village sarpanch around midnight on Monday. A container lorry crashed head-on into an Ertiga car on the Satphool bridge.
Police said the lorry was travelling from Nirmal to Nanded. Meanwhile, the Ertiga was entering Bhainsa from the Nizamabad side. The vehicles collided on the bridge with severe impact.
As a result, four Ertiga occupants died on the spot. Another passenger suffered critical injuries. Two others escaped with minor injuries.
Earlier, the victims had returned from Hyderabad after visiting a villager admitted to a hospital. They started the journey late at night. The crash occurred just minutes before they reached Bhainsa.
Police identified the deceased as driver Boppa Vikas (24), Bhojaram Patel (42), Kodimel Pedda Rajanna (62), and Boyidi Babanna (65). All belonged to the Kubheer mandal area. Kupti village sarpanch Gangadhar, who sat in the middle row, sustained severe injuries. Sinde Anand Rao and Gundolla Laxman, also known as Chinnu, suffered minor injuries.
Road accident in Bhainsa: rescue completed, probe underway
Doctors first shifted Gangadhar to a private hospital in Bhainsa. Later, they referred him to a hospital in Nizamabad after his condition worsened.
Meanwhile, Bhainsa ASP Rajesh Meena and CI Sai Kumar reached the accident site. They supervised rescue operations with help from local residents.
Police removed the bodies from the damaged vehicle and sent them to the Bhainsa Area Hospital for post-mortem. Subsequently, they registered a case and began an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
