Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday declared that as long as he remained active in politics, the family of former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao would never return to power in Telangana.
Speaking at a felicitation programme for newly elected sarpanches in Kosgi of Narayanpet district, Revanth Reddy sharply criticised KCR for resurfacing after nearly two years with what he described as threatening and irresponsible statements. He said KCR’s recent remarks lacked dignity and political restraint.
The chief minister said he and his family had faced harassment in the past but he chose not to pursue personal revenge, as it would harm the state. He said KCR losing power immediately after he took oath was the biggest punishment possible. Revanth Reddy added that whether KCR remained confined to his farmhouse or was sent to Cherlapally or Chanchalguda jail, the outcome would be the same. He warned KCR not to provoke him and said he preferred civil political language.
Revanth Reddy challenge outlines Congress roadmap for 2029
Revanth Reddy traced his political rise from the Nallamala region to becoming ZPTC member, MLA, MP and chief minister. He said this journey reflected public trust. He asserted that Congress would return to power in 2029 with a strong mandate. If the Assembly retained 119 seats, he said Congress would win over 80. If the strength increased to 153, the party would secure more than 100 seats.
Issuing a direct challenge, Revanth Reddy asked KCR, K T Rama Rao and Harish Rao to record his words. He said the KCR family’s return to power would remain only a dream. Declaring the BRS era over, he said Telangana’s future belonged to Congress. He cited repeated BRS defeats in Assembly, parliamentary, Cantonment and Jubilee Hills by-elections. He added that Congress-backed candidates won 8,335 of 12,726 gram panchayats.
The chief minister said the final verdict would come again in 2029. While stating that he respected KCR’s age, he urged him to attend the Assembly session beginning December 29. He said debates should take place on the Assembly floor, not through farmhouse press conferences, so people could hear both sides directly.
Revanth Reddy announced special development funds for gram panchayats in the new year. Small panchayats would receive ₹5 lakh and larger ones ₹10 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Fund. These funds would not depend on recommendations from MLAs, MPs or ministers. He asked sarpanches to plan facilities carefully and use the funds for long-term solutions.
He said the Kodangal Assembly constituency would be developed as a model. Roads would reach every village and thanda. Temples, schools, drinking water, housing for the poor people and ration cards would be ensured. Industrial parks would be expanded to generate jobs. Urging integrity, he quoted Mahatma Gandhi and said village development was the foundation of national progress.
