Sangareddy crime decline: SP Paritosh Pankaj cites drop in major offences

Hyderabad: Sangareddy district recorded a decline in crime in 2025, with overall offences dropping compared to the previous year, Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj said on Tuesday.

Presenting the annual crime report at the district police office along with SP Raghunandan Rao, Paritosh Pankaj said police registered 8,255 cases in 2025. This marked a one per cent reduction from last year. He said focused policing led to a 28 per cent overall decline in major offences.

He said murder cases dropped by 32 per cent during the year. Murders committed for property fell by 19 per cent, while rape cases declined by 21 per cent. He attributed the improvement to better investigation, intensified patrolling, and stronger preventive measures.

Sangareddy crime decline offset by surge in kidnapping cases

Despite the overall improvement, Paritosh Pankaj said kidnapping cases surged by 309 per cent. He said police would closely monitor the trend and launch targeted interventions.

He said police formed She Teams in four sub-divisions and deployed them for continuous patrols to enhance women’s safety. The SP added that community policing, swift response, and preventive action remained central to maintaining law and order.

Police officials said the department would strengthen surveillance and awareness programmes to address emerging crime trends while sustaining the gains achieved in crime reduction.
