Mahalakshmi Scheme: RTC JAC Applauds Pass Card Decision

Hyderabad: The RTC JAC has welcomed the decision to issue free bus pass cards to women passengers in RTC buses under the Mahalakshmi Scheme, replacing the earlier practice of issuing zero tickets. The decision was taken at an RTC review meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.

The JAC pointed out that the Mahalakshmi Scheme led to heavy passenger rush in RTC buses, creating operational difficulties for conductors. Issuing zero tickets amid congestion resulted in confusion and errors.

Mahalakshmi Scheme reform welcomed by RTC JAC

According to the JAC, some conductors faced disciplinary action after mistakenly issuing zero tickets to men. To address this issue, the JAC had demanded the introduction of free bus pass cards for women.

The matter was reportedly brought to the attention of the government and RTC management. When the issue was raised during a meeting with the Transport Minister on May 6, a positive response was received. The JAC expressed happiness that the demand was accepted during the recent RTC review meeting.
