Suspect held after White House shooting injures two National Guard troops

Hyderabad: A shooting incident near the White House left two National Guard members injured on Wednesday evening. Officials said the attack occurred only two blocks away from the White House. They arrested one suspect at the scene. FBI agents later identified him as Rahmanullah Lakanwal. They confirmed that he migrated from Afghanistan in 2021.

Authorities said Lakanwal applied for refugee status in 2024. His application received approval this year. Witnesses reported that he waited near the Farragut West Metro Station for several minutes. Then he opened fire at around 2:15 pm. The attack unfolded rapidly and shocked bystanders.
