Hyderabad: Congress leader and Telangana Government Adviser Shabbir Ali said the Congress alone has the political will to preserve the 4% Muslim reservation and uphold the rights of marginalised communities. Speaking at a rally in Erragadda, he urged Jubilee Hills voters to support Congress candidate Naveen Yadav in the November 11 bypoll.
Congress credited for initiating Muslim reservation
Recalling the 2004–05 quota introduced by the Congress, Shabbir Ali said the decision enabled nearly 22 lakh poor Muslims to study in medicine, engineering, MBA, and MCA programmes. “It changed lives across Telangana,” he said. “Congress remains the only party committed to continuing such policies.”
He said the party’s social-justice legacy set it apart from rivals and stressed that inclusive progress required firm political resolve.
Naveen Yadav’s win will affirm welfare governance
According to him, victory for Naveen Yadav would endorse the government’s welfare-driven policies. “Your vote is for justice and equality,” he said, urging residents to strengthen Congress’s reform agenda.
Congress to move Supreme Court on Waqf Amendment
Shabbir Ali reaffirmed plans to challenge the Waqf Amendment Act in the Supreme Court. “It is a combined legal and political fight against forces threatening inclusive governance,” he said.
BRS helping BJP’s divisive politics
He accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of acting as a “covert ally” of the BJP by supporting controversial bills at least 14 times. “Voting for BRS means strengthening BJP,” he said.
He added that BRS’s actions split secular votes and harmed Telangana’s unity.
Highlighting Revanth Reddy’s welfare steps
Listing recent schemes—fine-rice distribution, new ration cards, 200 free power units, and free bus travel for women—he said continued support would expand these initiatives.
Appeal for secular, peaceful voting
In conclusion, Shabbir Ali urged voters to reject divisive politics. “Every vote for Congress safeguards reservation and secularism,” he said.
