Hyderabad: Congress leader Shabbir Ali has said the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has turned into the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “B-team” by contesting only in Muslim-dominated constituencies in Bihar.
Campaigning for Congress nominee Md Qamar Ul Huda at Kharkhari in Kishanganj, Shabbir Ali said MIM’s presence in these seats weakens secular parties by splitting Muslim votes. “MIM is a spoiler, and its politics benefits BJP. Instead of strengthening secularism, it divides it,” he said.

He reaffirmed that the Congress has always stood for inclusive growth and minority representation. “By dividing Muslim votes, MIM blocks the community’s progress. Every division of votes helps communal politics,” he said.
Citing the last Bihar polls, Shabbir Ali stated MIM won four seats but assisted BJP in more than twenty constituencies. “People now see their tactics. MIM will not save deposits this time,” he said.
He urged Muslims to back Congress candidates and reject divisive politics. “Unity among secular forces is essential to stop BJP’s agenda. Wherever MIM contests, BJP benefits,” he warned.
