Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of deceiving the Muslim community through the induction of former cricketer Md Azharuddin into the Telangana cabinet. He described the move as a “political eyewash” carried out under electoral pressure.
“Revanth Reddy thinks a single post can erase two years of neglect,” Sohail said. “For 23 months, Muslims had no representation, and now he wants applause for fixing his own mistake.”
Sohail pointed out that Azharuddin’s inclusion on October 31, during the Model Code of Conduct, highlighted the Congress government’s anxiety over the Jubilee Hills by-election. “This decision reflects fear, not commitment,” he added.
BRS questions Revanth Reddy’s sincerity in Muslim representation and election timing.
He said Revanth Reddy was projecting the move as a gesture of inclusion while ignoring past exclusion. “Representation is a constitutional right. It’s not a gift to be granted under pressure,” Sohail noted.
Recalling the Chief Minister’s earlier claim that there were no Muslim MLAs or MLCs, Sohail said the sudden change showed political desperation. “Nothing changed except the fear of losing Jubilee Hills,” he said.
Calling the Congress government’s performance a failure on all minority promises, Sohail demanded accountability. “From unspent funds to unfulfilled schemes, the government has betrayed the trust of Muslims,” he said.
Sohail urged Jubilee Hills voters to hold the Congress responsible. “BRS forced one correction. Many wrongs remain. Telangana needs justice, not token gestures,” he concluded.
