Telangana local body elections readiness reviewed by officials

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Election Commission on Saturday held a high-level review on preparations for the Telangana local body elections. State Election Commissioner Ranikumudini chaired the session with top bureaucrats and police officials.

Attending the meeting were Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Additional DGP Mahesh Bhagwat, and senior secretaries from Panchayat Raj, Finance, and Excise departments. They discussed logistics, law and order, and coordination across departments.

The review followed the state government’s Friday order implementing 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes in local bodies. The policy paved the way for conducting the elections that had been pending.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy earlier directed officials to complete all arrangements quickly. With these instructions, the Election Commission’s Saturday meeting laid the groundwork for finalising the poll process.

The review signalled that the local body elections are now imminent, with officials tightening planning across departments.
