Chilkalguda Police arrest three in robbery case

Hyderabad: Chilkalguda Police arrested three accused and apprehended a Child in Conflict with Law (CCL) in the Chilkalguda robbery case, solving a robbery in which a labourer was assaulted, robbed of his mobile phone and Rs 6,000, and abandoned at another location. The accused were arrested on June 30 and produced before the court, while the juvenile was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

Police registered the case as Crime No. 311/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after complainant C. Raj Kumar reported that four men intercepted him near Flora Hotel in Bhoiguda on June 22. They allegedly assaulted him, forced him onto a scooter, robbed his Redmi A3X mobile phone and cash, and later left him near Alugaddabavi Railway Under Bridge after threatening him.

Investigators identified the accused through field enquiries, intelligence inputs, witness examination, technical analysis and sustained surveillance. Consequently, the police recovered the stolen Redmi A3X mobile phone, the Honda Activa scooter used in the crime and cash of Rs 2.25 lakh linked to a separate theft case registered at Meerpet Police Station.

The arrested accused were identified as Darla Nehemiah alias Brucelee, 30, Dara Ashwanth, 27, and Nithin Francis alias Bablu, 22. Police said the fourth accused, a Child in Conflict with Law, is being dealt with under the Juvenile Justice Act.

Chilkalguda robbery case exposes interstate habitual offender

According to the investigation, Darla Nehemiah alias Brucelee masterminded the robbery and is a habitual interstate property offender with involvement in 65 criminal cases across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Police said he had previously been detained under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act but resumed criminal activities soon after his release from prison.

Investigators alleged that Brucelee recruited offenders while lodged in prison and formed organised gangs after their release to commit robberies and house burglaries. They also linked him to a robbery in Anantapur and separate property offences registered recently at Alwal and Meerpet police stations, where his arrest is still pending.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rakshitha Krishna Murthy said Hyderabad City Police would continue its zero-tolerance approach against organised property crimes. She warned that habitual offenders would face strict legal action, including rowdy sheets, suspect sheets and preventive detention wherever applicable.
