Hyderabad: Shaik Abdullah Sohail has criticised the Congress government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for what he described as failure in utilising minority education funds effectively.
He said the government had made significant promises, including a Rs. 4,000 crore minorities welfare budget. However, he argued that actual implementation has fallen short, particularly in education-related schemes.
Minority education funds remain underutilised despite allocations
Sohail highlighted that the MTF scheme saw minimal spending despite full fund release. Likewise, the RTF scheme recorded partial utilisation. Notably, the Pre-Matric scholarship scheme reported no expenditure at all.
In addition, he said programmes such as study circles and training initiatives have received limited financial attention. He noted that only a fraction of allocated funds has been used across these schemes.
Furthermore, Sohail pointed out that welfare programmes such as Shaadi Mubarak and Rajiv Yuva Vikasam also reflect poor spending patterns. He stressed that these schemes are critical for minority youth and families.
He compared the current utilisation rates with those during the BRS tenure, stating that earlier figures showed higher efficiency. According to him, the decline under the current government indicates weakening commitment.
He also noted that expenditure slowed significantly after the change in government in 2023–24. He said this trend raises serious concerns about governance priorities.
Sohail concluded by urging the government to take immediate corrective steps and ensure that allocated funds reach intended beneficiaries.
