SMAC reviews applications, issues media accreditation cards in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Media accreditation cards were issued to eligible journalists after scrutiny at a State Media Accreditation Committee (SMAC) meeting held in Hyderabad, chaired by K. Srinivas Reddy.

The meeting took place at the FDC Board Room with participation from Special Commissioner of Information and Public Relations and SMAC Co-Chairperson Ch Priyanka. Committee members reviewed applications submitted by journalists seeking accreditation.

K. Srinivas Reddy said the media accreditation cards were granted strictly in accordance with government guidelines. He added that the process ensured that all eligible journalists were considered without exclusion.

Officials said the committee would reconvene in the first week of April. Journalists who have not yet applied were advised to submit their applications online to be considered in the next round.

Media accreditation cards process to be expanded to districts

The committee also decided to review and approve proposals sent by District Media Accreditation Committees through district collectors. Officials were directed to speed up the issuance of media accreditation cards at the district level.

The move aims to streamline the process and ensure timely access to accreditation for journalists across Telangana. Authorities said faster processing at the district level would improve administrative efficiency.

Director of Information and Public Relations Kishore Babu and Additional Director D. S. Jagan attended the meeting along with other committee members.

The SMAC reiterated that adherence to guidelines would remain central to the accreditation process while expanding access for eligible applicants.
