Vaishnavi murder case: Three more accused arrested in Jagtial

Hyderabad: Police arrested three more accused in the Vaishnavi murder case in Jagtial and sent them to judicial remand, officials said on Thursday.

Metpally DSP Ramulu said the arrested persons include Vaishnavi’s mother Lakshmi and her brothers Anand and Ashok. Police alleged that they instigated her husband Haribabu to kill her over dowry demands.

Earlier, police had arrested Haribabu on March 18 at Konaraopet Expressway after he went absconding. A case was registered against him and his family members in connection with the murder.

Vaishnavi murder case linked to dowry harassment

Vaishnavi, a YouTuber, had married Haribabu on May 29, 2025, at Venkateswara Temple near Venkatapur after a brief relationship of 10 months. Police said she had initially paid ₹5 lakh as dowry.

However, Haribabu allegedly continued to harass her for an additional ₹5 lakh. Investigators said her mother and brothers supported the harassment despite Vaishnavi being four months pregnant.

According to police, an argument broke out late Monday night, during which Haribabu attacked her with a knife. The next morning, family members found her lying in a pool of blood and shifted her to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Officials said the Vaishnavi murder case is under further investigation to establish the full sequence of events and roles of all accused.
