Hyderabad: The government has approved Khammam road expansion works with an outlay of ₹594 crore. It also issued orders to upgrade key routes into four-lane roads.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka led the initiative and pushed for better connectivity and infrastructure in the district. The government sanctioned the projects under GO MS 15 dated March 16, 2026.
Officials said the expansion will cover five major routes. The plan aims to strengthen transport links between rural areas and towns. Authorities will execute the works under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).
Khammam road expansion to improve connectivity across five routes
The projects include the expansion of the Wyra–Jaggayyapet road, which connects to the Hyderabad–Vijayawada national highway. The stretch covers 25.2 km with an allocation of ₹151.20 crore.
The Madhira–Thutikuntla stretch will extend to four lanes over 13.50 km, with ₹81 crore funding. Another key route from Madhira to Errupalem spans 18.40 km and has received ₹110.40 crore.
The Khammam–Bonakal road will be widened across 28.03 km with ₹157.23 crore. The Bonakal–Allapadu and Rayannapet–Vangaveedu stretch covers 15.72 km and has an allocation of ₹94.32 crore.
Officials said the expansion will ease the transport of agricultural produce and reduce travel costs. They expect better connectivity to boost economic activity in Khammam, Wyra, and Madhira constituencies.
