Hyderabad: ACB officials produced two excise inspectors before a special court in a Karimnagar bribery case after uncovering illegal payments and benami transactions.
The ACB arrested AO-1 Gundeti Ramu, Prohibition and Excise Inspector in Karimnagar Urban, and AO-2 Jakkani Venu, a Secondary Grade Teacher at MPPS Obulapur in Jagitial district, on March 17, 2026, at around 8:25 PM. Officials took them into custody and registered a case based on credible evidence.
Investigators found that Gundeti Ramu allegedly collected illegal payments from a liquor merchant through his associate, Jakkani Venu. These transactions occurred regularly between 2022 and 2024 using UPI channels.
Further investigation showed that Venu transferred the money to the bank accounts of Ramu and his father through SBI and UBI accounts. This pattern indicates a benami arrangement to hide the source of funds.
During searches at Ramu’s residence, ACB officials seized ₹20 lakh in unaccounted cash. Officials said Ramu used Venu as a conduit to carry out illegal activities and collect bribes.

Officials reiterated that they will continue strict action against corruption and misuse of power across the state.
