Domestic cylinder misuse raids in Nizamabad district hotels

Hyderabad: Civil Supplies enforcement officials seized dozens of LPG cylinders during raids on hotels and eateries in Nizamabad district after detecting misuse of domestic cylinders in commercial establishments.

Officials conducted surprise inspections in Armur after receiving information that several tiffin centres, hotels, bars and restaurants were using cylinders meant for household consumption. During the raids, the teams seized around 50 domestic cylinders from various establishments.

Officials said the misuse violates supply regulations because domestic cylinders are subsidised and meant only for household cooking. They warned hotel and restaurant operators that authorities will register cases if they continue using domestic cylinders for commercial purposes.

Meanwhile, gas supply tensions have increased in several areas due to disruptions linked to the ongoing Iran war. As a result, many hotels and restaurants have reported shortages of commercial cylinders. Some establishments have even shifted to wood stoves to continue their operations.

Domestic cylinder misuse prompts inspections in Jagtial district

Civil Supplies officials also conducted inspections in hotels and restaurants across Jagtial district on Thursday (March 12). During the checks, officers seized more than 20 domestic cylinders from multiple hotels.

Authorities said they will take strict legal action against businesses that illegally use cylinders meant for domestic consumers. Officials added that they will file criminal cases against violators under relevant provisions.

They also advised households to use LPG carefully and avoid wastage. Officials further said the cylinder booking interval has increased from 25 days to 45 days to manage supply more effectively during the current shortage.
