Hyderabad: Police said a probe was underway into the Makthal incident involving Erakali Mahadevappa, which reportedly occurred around 3 am, and clarified that the case would be formally taken up once a complaint was received from the family.
Senior officials said forensic procedures had already begun as part of the Makthal incident probe. Experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory were called, along with specialists from central forensic teams. Officials added that experts from Nagpur, representing one of India’s most advanced forensic institutions, were also involved in examining the evidence.
Police said the findings from the forensic analysis would emerge in the coming days. They urged patience, stating that conclusions would be drawn only after scientific examination and verification of all material.
Police address claims linked to Makthal incident probe
Officials strongly denied social media claims suggesting that crucial evidence from a 2015 ACB case had gone missing. They said all material related to that case was submitted to the court in 2021 and remained under judicial custody.
Police alleged that certain individuals were deliberately attempting to malign the department by spreading misinformation. They clarified that all files linked to the vote-for-note case were also with the court.
Regarding digital evidence, officials said experts were being engaged to retrieve servers. They added that files related to phone tapping were not with the FSL, while efforts were ongoing to trace the remaining seven files connected to the matter.
