Nagarkurnool electric shock kills Class 9 student at government school

Hyderabad: A tragic electric shock incident in Nagarkurnool claimed the life of a 14-year-old Class 9 student at a government high school in Indrakal village of Taduru mandal on Tuesday. The student died after coming into contact with a live wire fixed to the school compound wall.

The deceased was identified as Lokesh, the elder son of Mallesham and Lakshmamma. He was a resident of Indrakal village and studied at the local government high school. According to preliminary information, Lokesh stepped out to urinate during school hours. At that time, he accidentally touched a tightly fastened wire attached to a pole along the compound wall.

The wire carried live current, causing a severe electric shock. As a result, Lokesh collapsed on the spot. Meanwhile, fellow students noticed the incident and immediately informed the teachers. The teachers rushed him to the Nagarkurnool Government Hospital in a car. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

Following the incident, family members broke down after receiving the news. At the same time, grief and shock spread across the village. Locals alleged negligence by electricity department officials, stating that exposed live wiring near a school posed a serious safety threat.

Therefore, residents demanded strict action against those responsible. They also called for an immediate inspection of electrical infrastructure in and around schools to prevent similar tragedies. Meanwhile, police registered a case and began collecting details. Officials said a detailed inquiry was underway.
