Swachh Bharat Yatra begins with 37-day nationwide cleanliness drive

Hyderabad: On Sunday, organisers flagged off the 37-day Swachh Bharat Yatra, a nationwide cleanliness and circular-economy campaign. The initiative aims to drive large-scale public participation in sustainable waste management across India.

The campaign is led by Switcheko in collaboration with the Government of India, the Government of Telangana, and PlastIndia 2026. According to officials, the programme showcases how communities can implement sustainability solutions through direct citizen involvement.

As part of the Yatra, eight sustainability champions will plog nearly 45 km every day. In addition, a mobile recycling truck will process waste on-site. The campaign will also conduct hands-on training sessions on waste segregation and circular-economy practices.

Moreover, the Yatra will cover 25 locations over 37 days. It blends physical action with technology-driven solutions and community engagement. Organisers emphasised that the campaign promotes the idea of treating waste as a valuable resource.
