Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner R. V. Karnan reviewed the mega e-waste drive at Baghlingampally in Musheerabad Circle on Monday and inspected arrangements for the collection and scientific disposal of electronic waste.
During the visit, the Commissioner examined the e-waste collection camps and facilities set up at the location. He interacted with field staff and sought details on the functioning of special vehicles and dedicated counters deployed as part of the mega drive.
Karnan appreciated the efforts of sanitation teams and officials involved in organising the programme. He underlined that proper handling of electronic waste was critical to reducing environmental damage and protecting public health.
Mega e-waste drive aims at scientific disposal
The GHMC Commissioner appealed to citizens to actively participate in the drive by handing over obsolete and unused electronic items at designated collection centres. He warned that improper disposal of e-waste leads to pollution and serious health hazards.
Officials said the mega e-waste drive was being conducted as part of GHMC’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable waste management practices and strengthen environmental protection across the city. They added that public cooperation was essential to ensure the initiative’s success.
