Chinese manjha injures software engineer in Hyderabad road accident

Hyderabad: A Chinese manjha accident left a software engineer with serious injuries after the banned kite string wrapped around his hand while he was riding a motorcycle in the city.

Police said the incident occurred when Chaitanya, a software engineer, was travelling from Gachibowli towards Hafeezpet on his bike. During the ride, a Chinese manjha string hanging in the air suddenly got entangled around his hand. The sharp string cut into his flesh like a blade, causing severe bleeding.

Local residents noticed the injured rider and rushed to his aid. They immediately shifted him to a hospital in Madhapur for emergency treatment. Doctors said he suffered deep cuts and required medical attention to control the bleeding.

The incident once again highlighted the dangers posed by Chinese manjha, which remains banned due to repeated accidents and fatal injuries involving pedestrians, riders, and birds.

Chinese manjha accident raises safety concerns despite ban

Residents and commuters said discarded kite strings often remain suspended across roads or tangled on poles, posing a grave risk to two-wheeler riders. When such strings snap or hang loosely, they can easily entangle riders at high speed, leading to life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have repeatedly warned against the use of Chinese manjha, stressing that its sharp synthetic coating makes it extremely dangerous. Officials said enforcement drives were being conducted, but negligence by a few continued to put lives at risk.

Police and civic authorities urged citizens to strictly avoid using Chinese manjha and called for stricter implementation of the ban. They also appealed to the public to immediately remove fallen or hanging kite strings from roads to prevent further Chinese manjha accidents.
