Hyderabad: Police seized 92 kg of ganja during vehicle checks at the Mutthangi Outer Ring Road toll gate in Sangareddy district. Officers also arrested three persons for transporting the contraband.
During routine checks, police stopped a Hyundai car and a DCM vehicle at the toll gate. Officers searched both vehicles on the spot. They found the ganja hidden inside, police said.
Preliminary inquiries showed that the accused transported the consignment from Odisha to Solapur. As a result, police intercepted the operation before the drugs could exit the state.
Police identified the accused as Sachin Gangaram, Mahesh, and Vijay. All three belong to Solapur. Officers took them into custody for questioning.
Mutthangi ganja seizure exposes interstate trafficking route
Along with the ganja, police seized ₹11,000 in cash, the Hyundai car, the DCM vehicle, and five mobile phones. Investigators said the accused used these items to transport the drugs and coordinate the operation.
Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Meanwhile, teams have begun tracing the wider network behind the seizure. Officers aim to identify suppliers and other interstate links.
Finally, police said they will continue the investigation.
