Hyderabad: The Centre granted administrative approval for setting up a 50-bed Karimnagar AYUSH hospital, offering alternative healthcare services to people of north Telangana.
The approval cleared the way for establishing an AYUSH facility covering Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy in Karimnagar. The project received an estimated outlay of ₹15 crore, of which the Centre released ₹7.5 crore as the first instalment.
The sanction followed sustained efforts by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandhi Sanjay Kumar, officials said. The hospital will be constructed with a capacity of 50 beds and multiple specialised departments.
The proposed facility will include 20 beds for Kayachikitsa, 10 for Panchakarma, 10 for Shalya, and dedicated sections for obstetrics and gynaecology. Authorities said the Karimnagar AYUSH hospital will focus on treatments for chronic ailments through Ayurveda Panchakarma, Homeopathy, Yoga and Naturopathy without side effects.
Staffing and land process for Karimnagar AYUSH hospital
Officials said the Karimnagar AYUSH hospital will have a medical superintendent, specialist doctors, yoga trainers, nursing staff and laboratory technicians to ensure round-the-clock services.
The Centre has already written to the Telangana government, asking it to identify suitable land, take up construction, and initiate recruitment. The land acquisition process is expected to begin soon under the supervision of district collector Pamela Satpathy.
Residents of Karimnagar welcomed the decision, saying the hospital would significantly improve access to alternative medicine for the wider north Telangana region.
