Doctors, staff vacancies in Singareni hospitals to be filled by March

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will fill all pending vacancies for doctors and paramedical staff in Singareni hospitals by March 2026, Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka told the Assembly on Tuesday.

During the Singareni discussion, he said the government treats the health of Singareni workers and their families as a top priority. He informed the House that 11 contract doctors are currently working in Singareni hospitals. He added that the government has already issued a notification to recruit 32 doctors and will complete the appointments soon.

At the same time, Singareni has begun an internal recruitment process to fill 176 paramedical staff posts. The government is also strengthening healthcare facilities across all regional Singareni hospitals, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister announced that Singareni will set up a Cath Lab at Godavarikhani under the public-private partnership model. Authorities have already awarded the contract. Officials will inaugurate the facility within 75 days.

Vacancies part of broader welfare measures

Bhatti Vikramarka said Singareni hospitals are supplying medicines to retired employees under the CPRMS scheme. Each beneficiary can avail treatment up to ₹8 lakh. The government is also extending terminal benefits to retired workers.

Turning to housing, he said Singareni boards will discuss a proposal to allot house plots on vacant Singareni land to retired employees. The boards will take a final decision after deliberations.

Calling Singareni the largest public sector undertaking in Telangana, he said the company provides employment to thousands of youth. He stressed that employees, public representatives and society must collectively protect the institution.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the government aims to safeguard Singareni amid globalization and privatization pressures. He expressed concern over coal block auctions, which allow private players to enter the sector and weaken Singareni’s position.

He recalled that Singareni earlier lost coal blocks after skipping auctions. However, after the Congress government took charge, the company participated in auctions and secured new blocks.

Bhatti Vikramarka noted that private firms now supply coal at lower prices, which affects Singareni’s sales. To address these challenges, the government will convene a high-level meeting within ten days after the Assembly session. The meeting will include ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs from the Singareni region, along with the CMD and directors.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, he said the Indiramma Rajyam administration has given top priority to worker welfare. The government has provided a ₹1 crore accident insurance cover to Singareni workers through banks without burdening the state or the company. He also announced that the scheme will soon extend to power DISCOM employees.
