Hyderabad CP Sajjanar calls for society without old-age homes

Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar on Wednesday called for a society without old-age homes. He urged children to view caring for parents as a responsibility, not a burden. He shared the message while spending New Year’s Day at an old-age home in Karkhana.

To mark the New Year meaningfully, Sajjanar visited an old-age home and healthcare centre run by RK Foundation. He was joined by senior police officers. During the visit, he distributed fruits and sweets to 48 elderly residents. He also interacted with them, enquired about their well-being, and cut a cake to convey New Year greetings.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said true happiness lies in serving one’s parents. He reminded families not to forget the sacrifices parents make for their children. At the same time, he cautioned against citing modern lifestyles or work pressure as excuses to distance parents from family life.

Sajjanar’s message highlights humane policing

Meanwhile, Sajjanar praised Tirumalagiri ACP Ramesh for ensuring timely medical care for senior actress Pawala Shyamala. She has been receiving treatment at the RK Foundation healthcare centre for the past month. Sajjanar personally met the actress and enquired about her health.

Additionally, he commended Dr. Ramakrishna, who runs the foundation. He noted that the organisation has provided free medical services to nearly 15,000 people over the last 18 years. It has also offered shelter to many elderly persons. Therefore, Sajjanar said parents need affection, not assets, in their old age. He appealed to citizens to revere and care for them like divinity.

Finally, North Zone DCP Rashmi Perumal, Additional DCP Ashok, ACP Ramesh, Karkhana Inspector Anuradha, and other officers participated in the programme.
