Hyderabad: Police apprehended 23 foreigners for illegally overstaying their visas during a Tolichowki cordon and search operation conducted on the night of February 16, 2026.
The Golconda Zone Police carried out the large-scale exercise within the limits of Tolichowki Police Station after receiving specific intelligence inputs about the illegal stay of certain individuals. The operation covered Paramount Colony from Gates 1 to 4, IAS Colony and Hakeempet Kunta.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Golconda Zone, Sri G. Chandra Mohan directly supervised the Tolichowki cordon and search operation. Police deployed 250 personnel to execute the plan. The force formed 10 search parties, seven cut-off parties and five lifting parties, while officers set up two holding points to screen suspects.
Officials conducted door-to-door checks and verified identity and visa documents during the coordinated drive.
Seizures during Tolichowki cordon and search operation
With assistance from FRRO, Hyderabad, police identified 23 foreign nationals who were residing without valid visa status. Authorities detained them and initiated further legal action under relevant laws.
In addition, police seized 30 two-wheeler vehicles that lacked valid documents. Officers also recovered nine gas cylinders, including three large and six small cylinders, which were allegedly used for illegal gas refilling activities.
During the searches, teams confiscated 53 liquor bottles of 180 ml and 90 ml sizes that were allegedly possessed or sold unlawfully.
Police said the Tolichowki cordon and search operation aimed to strengthen enforcement of residency regulations and maintain public order. Further investigation is underway, and officials are processing cases against those found in violation.
