Hyderabad: The State Election Commission has intensified preparations for the Telangana panchayat polls by moving forward with finalizing electoral rolls. A schedule has been issued, with the final list of voters due on September 2.

The process begins with the publication of draft rolls on August 28 in gram panchayat and mandal offices. On August 29, district election officers will meet party representatives, followed by mandal-level meetings on August 30.

Telangana panchayat polls underline importance of electoral rolls

Between August 28 and 30, objections to the draft voter lists will be collected and reviewed. Once resolved, the final electoral roll will be released. This exercise is critical as it determines voter eligibility at the ward level, ensuring transparency and accuracy in the electoral process.

State Electoral Officer Rani Kumudini has directed officials to adhere to deadlines. The schedule reflects the Commission’s attempt to balance procedural clarity with political engagement before the rural local body elections.
