SEC tightens timelines ahead of Telangana local body election

Hyderabad: As the notification deadline approaches, the SEC tightened timelines for the Telangana local body election and set out a step-by-step plan for districts. The approach links technology with field checks to reduce errors and delays.

Collectors will upload reservation data for wards, gram panchayats, MPTCs, and ZPTCs to T-Poll. At the same time, they will conduct site inspections to confirm entries. This pairing improves data integrity.

The portal already carries voter lists for each segment. The Panchayat Raj Department completed reservation exercises and issued gazette orders. Therefore, officials now need to feed those particulars into the system and reconcile any mismatch.

MDOs will take care of ward uploads. RDOs will enter sarpanch details. ZP CEOs will handle MPTC and ZPTC reservations. Clear role lines help with faster completion.

Field checks, sensitive-centre mapping, and rapid tender opening

Collectors will inspect nomination centres, arrange staff and materials, and grade locations as problematic, highly problematic, or most problematic. Consequently, they will plan webcasting coverage and propose the number of micro-observers.

The SEC instructed districts to call tenders for ballot paper printing immediately. Offset printing press owners should submit sealed quotations by 2 p.m. on the 8th of this month. The Collectorate will open tenders at 3 p.m. on the same day in the presence of ZP CEOs, DPOs, and other officials.

All related documents and updates will appear on the website to keep the Telangana local body election process transparent.
