Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said Telangana fuel supply remained uninterrupted, with the State government putting in place a robust monitoring system to ensure continuous availability of petrol, diesel and LPG.
The Chief Minister made the statement during a virtual meeting convened by Narendra Modi with all Chief Ministers amid prevailing tensions in West Asia. He informed that a high-level committee led by the Chief Secretary was actively reviewing supply and distribution across the State.
Officials said the Command Control Centre in Hyderabad was monitoring fuel availability in real time. In addition, similar committees were set up in all 33 districts. Nodal officers were appointed to oversee LPG distribution, petrol and diesel sales, and to prevent black marketing.
Telangana fuel supply backed by strong reserves and monitoring
The Chief Minister stated that essential services such as hospitals, schools, orphanages and old-age homes were being prioritised for LPG supply. Authorities were also tracking stock levels and consumption at fuel outlets to maintain transparency and avoid disruptions.
He noted that Telangana’s daily consumption of petrol and diesel stands at 36,189 kilolitres, while current reserves are at 1,88,210 kilolitres, indicating sufficient stock. At the same time, strict action was being taken against those spreading misinformation about fuel shortages on social media.
Highlighting long-term measures, the Chief Minister said the State was reducing dependence on fossil fuels by promoting electric vehicles and renewable energy. He added that Telangana had provided 100% exemption on road tax and registration fees for EVs and was encouraging EV manufacturing.
The government has also initiated a programme to convert over 1.20 lakh petrol and diesel autos in Hyderabad into electric vehicles. Plans are underway to gradually transition RTC buses into a fully electric fleet.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and Principal Secretary V. Sheshadri, attended the meeting.
