Hyderabad: Telangana flood rescues launched on Wednesday underscored the importance of quick response forces as Army and SDRF units saved stranded residents in Medak and Rajanna Sircilla districts. The incidents followed days of heavy rain that swelled rivers and streams, cutting connectivity.
In Medak’s Haveli Ghanpur mandal, ten villagers were stranded in Rajapeta Tanda. The district administration sought Army support, leading to the deployment of a unit under Lt. Col. Nikhil with 30 personnel. Eight villagers were evacuated successfully, with operations continuing for the remaining two. The rescue demonstrated the speed of inter-agency coordination in emergencies.

Telangana flood rescues underline need for preparedness
Elsewhere in Medak, Papannapet mandal witnessed the Ellapur bridge going underwater as the Manjeera river swelled. Traffic was halted and police restricted movement, underscoring how floodwaters can quickly isolate rural areas.
In Rajanna Sircilla, five cattle grazers became stranded near the Upper Manair project after crossing to graze livestock. The Collector and Superintendent of Police monitored the rescue. SDRF teams used drones to drop food packets before attempting evacuation. This highlighted the growing role of technology in rescue efforts.
Officials across both districts urged citizens to heed warnings and avoid venturing into flood-prone areas. With rainfall continuing, administrations said the priority remained preventing loss of life while ensuring supplies reached those cut off.
