Three killed in Sirivella bus–lorry crash on national highway

Hyderabad: Three passengers were killed and more than 15 others injured in a Sirivella bus crash after a private travel bus collided with a lorry on the national highway, police said.

The accident occurred near Sirivella Metta on the national highway when an AR BCVR Travels bus was travelling from Nellore to Hyderabad. According to preliminary information, the bus reportedly lost control after one of its tyres burst. It crossed the road divider, rammed into a lorry coming from the opposite direction, and then caught fire.

Local residents and passersby rushed to the spot and alerted emergency services. Police and fire personnel reached the area and shifted the injured passengers to the Government Hospital in Nandyal for treatment. Doctors said several injured passengers were undergoing treatment, while the condition of some remained serious.

Officials said the impact of the collision was severe, leading to the death of three passengers on the spot. The fire further damaged the bus, complicating rescue operations in the initial minutes after the crash.

Sirivella bus crash under police investigation

Sunil Sheran, Superintendent of Police, visited the accident site and reviewed the situation. He said a detailed investigation had been launched to determine the exact cause of the Sirivella bus crash.

Police are examining whether overspeeding or mechanical failure contributed to the accident. Statements from the bus driver, injured passengers, and eyewitnesses are being recorded as part of the probe. Traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted and later restored after the damaged vehicles were removed.

Authorities advised transport operators to ensure proper vehicle maintenance to prevent such incidents in the future.
